Saturday 7 October, 7.30pm - Wine tasting at Jane and Bob’s house
Members should bring along a bottle of wine and either remove the label or cover the label up, but keep details of the wine secret. Those present can then sample the wine and try to guess what it is.
Please let Jane (118) know if you are planning to come (either via Cyclos; email stringallj@yahoo.com or phone 01525 370250).
Past Events
Thanks to Valerie (258) for inviting us to the Westbury Arts Centre in Milton Keynes for a taster day. As Valerie is part of two Lets Schemes, she invited us to sample the other one. A few of us turned up to try out some trades. There were the usual drinks and cakes, but we were able to try out a tap dancing class, learn how to write our names in Hebrew, do a bit of tatting (a very impressive type of lacemaking) and sample a Shiatsu session. There was an American lady from Texas, who did a couple of story telling sessions and a lady who gave short music lessons. We spent a lovely afternoon having fun, trying new things and making new friends. Coincidentally, Valerie is number 115 in Milton Keynes LetNet!

On Sunday 9th July LetsBuzz held a River and Canal Walk from the River
Bridge on Linslade Road, to the Globe. The weather was perfect and we had a
leisurely walk along the river path to the canal path and then on to the
Globe for a tasty Sunday roast. On the way, we saw many barges, one of
which, was being driven by an American couple from New York, who were
experiencing a four day canal trip. Many of the barges were beautifully
painted and some were selling wares, including refreshments. We passed a
group of swans resting on the bank. The two adult swans were protecting
their small grey signets and the female swan gave us a little hiss as we
passed, as if to say "Don't think of touching my babies ".
When we arrived at the Globe, we decided to sit inside as the sun was very
hot, although there were plenty of available tables outside. We all
decided to have a Sunday roast and between us, sampled the lamb, beef and
pork. It was a delicious lunch and we will be returning in the near
future!
On our return journey we encountered a couple of barges going through the
lock. What a clever invention! It was a perfect Sunday stroll and we made
some new friends into the bargain. We started the walk at around 11am and
were home again by 2:30pm ready for an afternoon snooze in the garden for
some of us!

A message from Janet (102)
I am always keen to inform other members of my presence at Leighton Buzzard Farmers Market on the third Saturday of each month. Any goods on my stall are available for Buzzards, as long as the member can produce evidence of belonging to Buzzards as I no longer know all members.
The Council has received a grant to 'modernise'' the High Street. No doubt you will have noticed in your local press that for a consultant fee of £12,000 advice has been given to move the market to the North side of the street. As such the Farmers Market will flow through the pedestrian part backing on to the bank wall with cash points and opposite Olivers and Iceland.
I sell a wide range of homegrown and homemade preserves including jam, jelly, curd, chutney, pickle, honey and rape seed oil.
At the same time I am always happy to purchase any spare harvest crops that you may have. I can also come and pick the crop both for you and for me. Remember too, that I grow a wide range of herbaceous plants whether annual, biannual or perennial, shrubs, fruit bushes, herbs and annual vegetable plants. I can bring them to order on F.M. Saturday. All for Buzzards. I can also arrange for your apple/pear/plum crop to be juiced for Buzzards plus the sterling price of the bottle. I have lots of enthusiasm, stamina and willingness to help the community of Buzzards. I will bring damsons next time which are good for wine making. I look forward to seeing you all.
We had a problem with birds coming into our conservatory and decided that a bead curtain would deter them from coming in when the doors were open. I looked online and, after seeing some beautiful, expensive, handmade curtains, I decided that the cheaper plastic ones just wouldn’t do! The only answer was to make one myself. I put in a ‘wanted’ ad on Cyclos and three people responded, many thanks to them. This is the final result (see bottom of page)
