The Eersterust Time Bank is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in a respectful, transparent, and secure manner. This Privacy Statement explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

 

2. Who We Are

The Eersterust Time Bank is a community initiative (presented through the Eersterust Community Portal) managed by Diversiton, the research and development division of LINAM CONSULTING, and hosted by LINAM HOSTING. It uses the CYCLOS platform to manage time-based community exchanges.

3. What Information We Collect

When you register as a member, we may collect the following personal information:

• Full name
• Contact details (phone number, email, address)
• Age or age group
• Skills or services you offer/request
• Basic profile information (bio, photo, location)
• Time credit activity (services logged, ratings, messages)

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Create and manage your time bank account
• Enable secure service exchanges within the community
• Communicate updates, support, and notices
• Monitor participation and resolve any disputes
• Promote safety, accountability, and inclusion in the platform

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for commercial gain.

 

5. How Your Information Is Stored

Your data is securely stored within the CYCLOS system, which uses encryption and access control to protect personal data. Only authorized administrators have access to sensitive information for support and management purposes.

 

6. Consent and Control

By joining the Eersterust Time Bank, you consent to the use of your information as outlined in this statement. You have the right to:

• View your data
• Correct or update your details
• Request the deletion of your account and associated information
• Withdraw consent at any time (note: this may end your membership)

7. Sharing Information with Other Members

Some of your profile information (e.g. name, general location, offered/requested services) is visible to other registered members to enable time bank exchanges. Private details such as your contact information are only shared with your consent or when needed to complete a service exchange.

8. Data Retention

We retain your information as long as you are an active member. Inactive accounts may be archived after 12 months of no activity and permanently deleted upon request or after an additional retention period.

9. Platform Security

The Cyclos platform employs security features such as:

• Encrypted logins
• Session timeouts
• Audit trails and access logs
• However, no digital system is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords and do not share your account credentials.

 

10. Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that could impact your privacy, we will inform you and the relevant authorities in accordance with POPIA and data security best practices.

 

11. Changes to This Statement

This Privacy Statement may be updated occasionally. We will notify all members of significant changes. The latest version will always be available on our website.
